Today was one of the saddest days and Agnes Tirop a 25yrs old Kenyan athlete was being laid to rest. The burial event took place in Kapnyemisa Primary School Nandi county and it was attended by several Kenyan athletes. The athletes were given time to mourn their colleague and you could see that they really wished the best for her in the athletics journey. Teary Hellen Obiri said that they were coming from Tokyo recently and she had a talk with Tirop. Hellen said that she was advising Tirop to do well in the road races since she wanted her to step in her position. Unfortunately, she's not going to have a successor and maybe young stars who are training may be forced to replace her when she retires. Peres Jepchirchir the world women's marathon champion said that everyday Agnes was showing prowess in her work and she was destined for the best. She urged any other girl who is going through gender based violence to report and quit the marriage before things get worse. Keitany claimed that she used to train with Agnes and they were good neighbors. Keitany said that Tirop's demise is a wound that might never heal. The event was attended by athletes from Uganda and those who retired the likes of Rudisha. We all wish that Tirop rests in peace.
