Transport and Infrastructure CS James Macharia has temporarily suspended matatus from using the Nairobi Expressway.
In a circular dated July 6, 2022 , Transport CS James Maria noted that the government will build rumble strips.
He also reduced motorvehicle speed limits to 110km/h.
"This is to caution motorists plying the Nairobi Expressway to drive at low speeds while cruising along the busy road," he said.
"And the motorvehicle speed limits. The highest speed limit on the roads in country is 110km/h"
Macharia added that speed Cctv camera have also been installed along the expressway to observe the issue of speed.
He confirmed that the Nairobi Expressway is now labelled with the speed limits that will be used along its different sections.
"All drivers are urged by law to abide to the laid down speed limits. We have erected Cctv speed cameras to curb the issue of overspeeding," he said.
This comes barely few days after various road accident were reported along the road.
