From Grass to Grace: Meet Kenyan Billionaires Who Bought Companies They Worked For (Photos)

The celebrated people we're going to discuss below worked as hawkers while others were employed to help the companies from collapsing as revealed by Kenyans.co.ke. They managed to become the proprietors of the said companies after they bought them. Meet them below.

1. Chris Kirubi

He is one of the billionaires in the country. The source revealed that he started working as a salesperson for an insurance company known as, International House Limited. The company decided to shut down its offices in Kenya.

That was when Chris Kirubi decided to purchase it. After talking to the bank which he was helped by the then building owner, Kirubi bought it.

2. Carole Mandi

The lovers of love Magazines might be familiar with this lady of beauty and brain. She started as a staff writer of the True Love Magazine. The Magazine's operations came to an end in the country and that is where she chipped in.

Her husband was of great help then when he helped Carole raised capital from their savings which saw her buying off her then employer. She launched the True Love and Drum Magazine.

3. James Mwangi

He is also a billionaire in the country. The source stated that he did not have a smooth life when he started his journey. He is not the pioneer of the Equity Bank. Kenyans.co.ke reported that tycoon Peter Munga started the Equity Building Society but faced some difficulties which saw him tapping into Mwangi.

James Mwangi who was then a group financial controller of Trade Bank group was appointed the director of the strategy. He helped the company which was collapsing become strong. He is currently the largest shareholder of the bank.

4. David Muita

He was a teacher by profession before quitting to join the MacMillan Publishers in 1984 as their salesperson. His hard work and dedication saw him become the General Manager of the company before becoming the managing director.

He again quit the job. He started his own Moran Publishers and decided to buy MacMillan Publishers in 2009. He has created employment opportunities for many people. We wish them all the best.
