Apart from the struggles to survive in this harsh economic times in search of a sustainable income in Nairobi, many have had to deal with the rising cases of insecurity and petty crimes.
It is a common knowledge that if you are not alert in the streets of Nairobi, you may reach your destination missing one or two of your valuable items.
In light of these Nairobians have today, 7-6-2021, on lG Mutyambai's Twitter page (in his engage with the IG segment) gone ahead to complain to him of the rising crime rates in Nairobi.
His response was that, the he has formed a special squad(task force) to deal with this rising crimes in Nairobi. His statement post read as follows, "We have a special anti-mugging squad that handles robbery with violence incidents including the ones that involve Boda boda riders. We have been engaging the operators through a sensitization program dubbed Usalama bararbarani (Road safety) on abiding by the rule of law. We have police officers on patrol 24/7. We also have an elaborate anti-agency team comprised of a special crime prevention unit that deals with homicides. We also encourage members of the public to report to the police should they spot any unusual activity."
This assurance from IG Mutyambai is a good way to assure Nairobians of their safety and on the other hand put on notice petty offenders as the Police are on alert.
