Several Left Homeless as State Demolishes Houses in Mukuru Slum

Several families have been left homeless after their homes were demolished by the state government to creat room for the expansion of a road.

The expansion will see Cathrene Ndereba Road from Airport Road expanded. The officials say it is part of a planned exercise to ensure the network in the informal settlement is good.

The bulldozers arrived in the area this morning. The exercise was being supervised by police and roads officials. The officials said those whose houses were demolished had been compensated and warned to leave.

The road which is part of the the Nairobi expressway is focused to easing traffic flow on roads surrounding the highway.

A resident by the name of John Onserio said that he had been compensated but he lacked somewhere to move to. John said that he lost a lot of property in the demolition exercise that began on Sunday night.

The exercise has left many homeless.
