Police said the shopkeeper attendant, identified as Elizabeth Anyango went missing four days before her decomposing body was found by the locals.
Bondo Sub-County Police Commander confirmed the incident saying the deceased locked the door from the inside and is believed to have died from suicide.
The locals said they were caught up with a foul smell coming from the locked shop, and notified the police.
“She locked the shop from inside before killing herself. The officers after breaking the door found the on the floor,” a local privy to the incident, told the press.
Witnesses accounts revealed that the deceased had been operating the shop for the last five years.
The motive behind her death is still unkown.
"She has been doing business here for a period of five years. We don't know the motive behind her death," another local told the press.
However, her body was taken to Bondo Sub-County hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
Police are curently investigating the circumstances under which the woman might have killed herself inside the shop.
