Motorbike taxi operators went into Rampage and almost lynched a senior police officer who sprayed one of their colleagues with bullets. The incident which took place along Kirinyaga road caused a fracas as the bodaboda operators took to the streets in a 2 hour battle protesting over one of their owns death.
According to The Standard digital news platform, Robin Patel Ogeto was shot at point blank range after he was arrested by Senior Sergeant Elijah Mutunga who was on routine patrol along the city's streets. Reports indicate that he flagged down the deceased who is said to have been using the wrong way to avoid a traffic snarl up in the street.
The police officer was attacked by the bodaboda riders after being cornered moments after killing the man and beaten to a pulp by the irate mob. He was saved by his junior officers who were on patrol and rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital where is was placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
