The Egesa Shuttle matatu reportedly involved in grisly road crash in the Amasige area.
Kisii County police commander confirmed the accident saying investigations have been launched to determine the root cause of the accident.
The matatu veered off the road and multiple several times before overturning in the area.
The wreckage of the vehicle after the crash showed how the matatu was badly damaged.
Witnesses said the matatu driver lost control of his vehicle after a tyre burst.
“The matatu had lost and veered off the road. When the driver tried to regain control of the steering wheel, it rolled several times before overturning in this area.
The matatu had just picked passengers at Kisii town heading to Sotik when the accident happened.
The county chief advised the road users to be careful while cruising along this busy routes.
By press time, rescue operations were underway.
