'I was Your Student In Campus And I Have No Doubt We Are Safe In Your Hands' Raila Told In Mt. Kenya

Elders' councils serve an important role in advising communities, especially during tough times. They provide advice to elected officials and senior community leaders. Who will lead the community as spokesman is largely determined by the Kikuyu and Luo council of elders.

Raila Odinga, Kenya' s former prime minister, will speak at a combined meeting of the Kikuyu and Luo councils of elders today. The Kabiruini showgrounds in Nyeri county are hosting this historic event. Elders from all counties in Mount Kenya make up the Kikuyu council of elders.

Raila Odinga, the former Prime Minister of Kenya, was greeted enthusiastically by elected representatives from the region upon his visit. The handshake partner was warmly greeted by local authorities and fans.

For DP Ruto and Raila Odinga, the Mt. Kenya region has become a battleground. The vote- rich region is a focus of attention this time around because it is not fielding any major politicians in the battle for the governorship.

Odinga arrived in Nyeri County this afternoon to promote his presidential campaign. Area leaders such as Nyeri Senator Engineer Ephraim Maina and Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth had greeted him warmly.

Raila' s ability to be the country' s fifth president has been lauded by Engineer Maina, who is also the senator for Nyeri county.

Raila was his Engineering teacher on campus, he claimed, and he had no faith that the country would be safe under his hands.

For a two- day political tour, the ODM party leader will camp in the county. He' ll meet with Nyeri County kids and speak at massive rallies throughout the county. In the county, he is anticipated to propagate his Azimio La Umoja agenda. The former prime minister was greeted by several leaders from the Jubilee and ODM parties.

Kanini Kega, Nyeri Town legislator Kimani Wambugu, former Dagoretti North legislator Dennis Waweru, nominated legislator Maina Kamanda, Siaya senator James Orengo, Hon. Samuel Atandi, and Gladys Wanga, Homabay women representative.

Leaders from Nyeri County are also well represented at the meeting. Senator Maina of Nyeri and Deputy Governor Carolina Karugu of Nyeri are in attendance. Among those in attendance are retired lawyer Paul Mwangi, Ndaragwa legislator Jeremiah Kioni, Ugunja legislator Opiyo Wandanyi, and former Gatanga legislator Peter Kenneth.
