The Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Interior has directed police officers to crackdown on motorists who will flout traffic rules.
He made the directive after a top meeting that was attended by among others top security officials as well as his Transport Ministry counterpart Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
In his directive, he notes that the Ministry of Interior will ensure that the police officers are given the necessary support to ensure that Kenyans using the roads are safe.
"Directed the police to crackdown heavily, and without exceptions, all those found flaunting our traffic rules. I have given the Police IG my personal assurances that we will provide his officers with necessary support to enforce the safety of every Kenyan on our roads as we head for the festive season."Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government programs.
This is yet another crackdown issued by the CS after he on Wednesday, December 14, announced the formation of a multi-agency to tame Kenyan revelers who engaged in excess consumption of alcohol during the festive season.
The launch was witnessed by Interior Permanent Secretary Raymond Omollo who assured Kenyans that the government would implement measures aimed at curbing the vice.
