Kakamega: 45-Year-Old Police Officer Allegedly Arrested For Conning Businessman Ksh 5000 At Lusui Market

A 45-year-old police officer arrested for conning businessman Ksh5000 at Lusui market, Iguhu location, Kakamega County.

Raymond Masheti a businessman at Lusui market in Iguhu location filed a complaint at Eregi police station that on Ocotober 3, 2021 at around 12pm while in his Mpesa kiosk, unidentified man visited his to him shop and asked to make a deposit of Kshs 5,000 in his line.

Raymond said the suspect donned in APS combat attire and said he was an inspector of police heading Iguhu police post. 

The businessman said that after M-pesa confirmation notification of the deposited Kshs5000 popped up, the suspect never gave out the cash to the him, but said that he will bring it in the evening.

The businessman later called the officer but had his mobile phone had been switched off.

Yesterday evening, it is reported that the man while in civilian clothes went to the M-pesa again and asked for another deposit Kshs 2800 and the Raymond notified the police.

Angry Bodaboda riders cornered him. The police were notified only to find him in full uniform. Further interrogation revealed that the suspect was APC Zahnun Musa Ore attached to CIPU Regional Commander Western.

Another man a resident of Sigalagala market identified as Elvis Odhiambo Juma recognised him while under the hands of the irate Boda riders and said that the suspect conned him Kshs 2800 on 21/09/2021 while putting on uniform and fled.

He has locked up in police cell awaiting further police grilling by DCI Kakamega South Sub-County.

The case was filed under OB number 06/04/10/2021 at 11:00hrs.
