Kitale Woman Beats Husband to Death for Misusing Food's Money

A 29-year-old woman in Kitale town has been arrested and taken into police custody for allegedly beating up her husband to death, after purchasing cigarettes worth Sh100, money meant for purchasing food for supper.

"Unamtumia Pesa ya chakula kwa Sigara," she said.

According to Matisi Nyumba Kumi official Paul Ngoya Barasa, the woman escaped lynching from members of the public following the incident.

"I was heading to Miti Mbili area when I saw a mob beating up the woman who had allegedly stabbed her husband using a kitchen knife,” he told the media.

“The woman rushed to the kitchen, picked up a knife and tried to stab her child, but the husband blocked her. Unfortunately, she ended up stabbing him in the chest.” He added.

A woman, the neighbor to the deceased, affirmed the incident saying she appealed to all Kenyans to find better ways of solving domestic disputes.

“Despite living in tough economic times, Kenyans should find reasonable ways to solve their conflicts instead of taking the law into their hands," she said.

The neighbors and members of public who were around the scene to rescue, where they separate them from further fights.

The injured man was rushed to nearby hospital for medications, but unfortunately, he was announced death due to excessive bleeding and injuries he conceded during the battle.

Confirming the incident, the Area Assistant Chief in the statements to media said the suspect has been arrested and taken into police custody, where she awaits to be arraigned in court once the investigation is complete.
