17 suspects were arrested by the police on Saturday following the attack on Azimio flag bearer Raila Odinga and those who accompanied him to Mzee Kibor's burial in Uasin Gishu county. The incident led to damages worth thousands of shillings after Raila's chopper wind screen was broken on the passenger side where Raila was allegedly sitting. The incident has brought condemnation from different political leaders including those from the Rift region who have called on Kenyans to practice political tolerance.
Mr. Stephen Kihara, who is the Uasin Gishu county commander said that the seventeen people who were found to be in possession of 50 shillings denomination at the time of arrested have given crucial information on how the incident took place. The seventeen suspects are going to be charged with attempted murder which according to the Kenya constitution carries a maximum sentence of life Imprisonment.
