It is yet another alarming incident at the Likoni channel as a trailer plunges into the Indian Ocean on Wednesday early morning. According to the report by Citizen Digital, the vehicle plunged into the waters after its driver lost control while trying to maneuver into the ferry. The trailer was en route to Mombasa before the accident happened.

Witnesses reported that the truck was carrying maize from Tanzania but the specific amount of the goods is still not known. No injuries have been recorded but the magnitude of the accident is yet to be revealed. The incident caused a lot of commotion and jam at the ferry channel as ferries could dock only on one side.

The truck was later retrieved from the ocean waters as further investigations are underway. This comes barely a week since another accident happened at the coastal region involving a tourist bus which had also plunged into the Indian Ocean. Last year another incident happened in which a woman lost her life, leaving her child orphaned.

Many People across the country and East Africa feel that the government should make major improvements at the ferry stations in order to avoid or minimize these frequent and life-threatening incidences.
