Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced that bars and restaurants will close at 11pm beginning today.
Kagwe, who was clarifying the time which the joints should close their businesses following the lifting of the curfew said all other health protocols should be adhered to keenly.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, October 21 at Afya House, the health CS said though the time has been extended, all the facilities will still undergo inspection to ensure they are observing the required sitting capacity at all times
This comes a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted nationwide curfew.
Bars and restaurants have been operating between 6am and 7pm.
The CS said restaurants and bars closure time maybe further advised by the licensing authorities.
“Handwashing, wearing of face masks and social distancing will be observed. I appeal to all joints to ensure handwashing stations are availed,” he said.
The CS also said Kenya will meet its target to vaccinate 10 million people by the end of the year.
“Later this evening, we will receive 500, 000 Johnson and Johnson vaccine doses. This is a boost for us we aim to meet our target'',Kagwe said.
On night travels, Kagwe maintained all protocols remain intact but he added that the Ministry of Transport will give further directions.
