Police officers based in Bukoba, Tanzania have arrested Emmanuel Clemence Mende, a 51-year-old man Kanyabugulu who killed his 47-year-old wife Odiria Lukas Kalinga by cutting her body with a panga after suspecting that she is repeatedly inviting another man to satisfy her body needs when he is away running personal errands.
Confirming the incident, Awadhi Haji Juma, the commander of police in Bukoba said that the incident took place on Monday 11th October 2021 at around 8:45 am when the woman was relaxing in the sitting room then her husband made an abrupt visit from behind with a panga and drove it into her flesh around the neck four times.
It is said that the man was forced to do the heinous action to his wife after alleging that his wife was secretly seeing another man from the same village who used to satisfy her needs when he (the husband) was away. The man is also said that he made attempts to get rid of their 14-year-old son after killing his mother, but the young boy managed to evade death as he ran away crying for help.
Hearing the young boy's cries, locals in the area were anxious to see what was happening and it is from there that they made their way to the scene and saw what the man had done. They immediately alerted the people in authority who in turn informed the police officers.
The suspect was immediately arrested and taken to Bukoba police station where officers are investigating him.
