Six people, among them three females, were in the guest house at the time of the tragedy.
It is yet to be established why the deceased had booked a room in the guest house which is based less than two kilometres from his home.
Police in Kisii are now probing the circumstances under which man met his untimely death inside a lodging at the Birongo shopping centre.
In the Monday, January 16, tragedy, a mysterious fire gutted the roofs of Egesa bar and restaurant at around 11pm.
Speaking to the media after the tragedy, Kisii County police boss Charles Kases said six people, that is three females, were inside the premise at the time of the incident.
Kases confirmed that they have launched probes into the matter to unravel the root cause of the fire.
The operator of the premise and another female have been held for grilling.
His chaired remains were retrieved and transferred to Kisii Teaching and Referral morgue as investigations into the incident continue
