Rainfall Expected In These Regions, Met Warns

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has given out their latest weather update which shows that several parts of Kenya are likely to continue being dry. This, based on the previous predictions, will give ample period of harvesting for most farmers that planted with the earliest drops in the March-April-May rainfall season.

However, in the forecast that is valid between 7-11th of July, the department has maintained that a few areas in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley as well as the regions over the Coastal Kenya will receive light to moderate rainfall within that given dateline. The same will be the case over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya. Therefore, it is important for the residents of the above mentioned areas to brace for proper clothing and necessary safety measures that will see them escape the dangers accompanied by rainfall.

In addition, the prediction establish that there will be Intermittent cold and cloudy conditions, expected over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley as well as over some parts of the South-eastern lowlands of Kenya. Similar intermittent cold and cloudy atmosphere, will dominate the regions over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Central and South Rift Valley.

Further, KMD Warns of Strong southerly winds with speeds exceeding 25knots (12.9m/s). These are likely to occur over the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands and North-eastern Kenya. Safety measures should be taken too in case the intensity of the winds increases.
