Screams and panic rented the air at Silibwet town on Friday afternoon after a part of the busy town caught fire. Traders and onlookers tried to put off the fire unsuccessfully, Bomet county disaster department responded swiftly.
The Bomet county fire engine saved the situation early enough. This is after series of attacks for failing to do its desired work efficiently in the recent fire outbreaks.
The cause of regular fire outbreaks across Bomet county is worrying, in less than a year many towns in the county have recorded huge losses to fire tragedies. A week ago, a part of Longisa town was razed down by the fire, traders are yet to get back to their business.
The cause of the incident is yet to be established but the electric fault is believed to be the cause. Goods of unknown value were destroyed but much was saved. The disaster department at the county level has been heaped with praises for the swift response .
