Woman And Her 3-Year-Old Child Drown While Crossing A Flooded River In Bomet.

A 28-year-old woman and her three-year-old child drowned while crossing a flooded Kiplesan water stream in Bomet east, Bomet county.

The woman who was identified as Gladys Chelule and her daughter drowned on Saturday night on their way home after attending a celebration party of a newly-born child in the neighborhood.

According to Kiplabotwo chief Stanley Towett, the mother might have underestimated the strength of the water waves because they had used the same route while crossing in the morning.

The raging floods swept them more than 60 meters from the scene where the two bodies were discovered trapped between the tree branches along the water stream.

The bodies have been moved to Longisa county mortuary.
