Weather Alert: The Following Places to Recieve Heavy Rainfall

The Kenya Metreological department has forecasted the weather pattern for the period between 16th to 22nd March 2021.

This week rainfall is expected over a few areas in the Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Central and South Rift Valley and the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Northeast as depicted in Figure 1.

The following counties will experience high amount of rainfall during the forecast period. Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Bungoma, Baringo, Busia, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisumu, Nandi, Nakuru, Meru, Migori, Kisii, Siaya, Homabay, Murang'a, Kiambu, Kirinyaga Bomet, Narok, Vihiga, Embu, Siaya.

Since it will mark the onset of long rains and planting season, farmers from the above regions are advised to prepare their farms and plant high quality seeds for better yields.

Kenyans are advised to brace themselves with warm clothing during the cold weather period. And those living in places prone to floodings are advised to move to safer areas to avoid calamities.

The Coastal Strip counties which includes, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and Kwale Counties will have sunny intervals in the mornings while in the afternoon some places will experience showers of rain, and the nights will be partly cloudy.
