What Detectives Found in The Pockets of Meru Officer Whose Body Was Found in a River

The body of Constable David Nyamweya, a police officer attached to Mutuati Police Station in Igembe North, was found floating in River Kathita, near Meru town. Nyamweya was involved in an incident where he shot his girlfriend six times back in August 2020.

According to detectives who were at the crime scene, his identity was only revealed after they found an interdiction letter dated January 2, 2022, inside his pocket. The police are however investigating if the death of the constable was through suicide or his body was dumped after being killed elsewhere.

The 28-year-old was supposed to attend a court hearing in March for misuse of firearms following an attack on Ms Everlyne Njoki. Luckily Ms Njoki survived the incident after the six bullets exited her body without injuring crucial organs but leaving gaping holes.

Ms Njoki had insisted to both her family and relatives that she doesn't hold any grudges against the deceased and was shocked to learn of his death. She was supposed to be one of the witnesses in the ongoing case but she withdrew.
