The Covid-19 pandemic launched hard economic times for Kenyans and not only Kenyans but also all individuals around the globe. Many individuals lost their jobs, others got entrapped in poverty.
With all thus circumstances, Youths in Meru decided that poverty is not their portion. This young men decided to set up a car wash along the Nairobi-Meru highway whereby they provide car detailing services.
I was very astonished to find a traditional Makuti while driving towards Nairobi. Its layout was so unique and I decided to stop by and enquire more about it. To my surprise it was a car wash with no any car wash machine but only four simple buckets and soap.
With the curiosity to inquire more about this business, I wanted to know more about their lives and their past. It was sad to find out that they had been working in Nairobi and they got to loose their jobs during the Corona Pandemic.
While on the conversation I came to realise that they go for more than half kilometre to fetch water from a nearby river. As if this is not enough they store this water in polythin bags.
