More Details Emerge On The KDF Officer Who Killed His Girlfriend In Nanyuki

Police in Nanyuki are investigating a case in which a Kenya Defence forces (KDF) officer shot his fiancée to death at close range before turning the pistol on himself.

Neighbours who heard what they thought were gunshots called the police to the flat where the two were hiding.

When they arrived, they had to break down the locked door from the inside to discover Mwende's body. The KDF officer, later identified as Emanuel Ilugu, was still alive, albeit severely wounded with a self-fired bullet to the chin.

Medical personnel rushed him to the emergency room, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The tragic event occurred while he was still dressed in his uniform.

It was discovered that Mwende and Emmanuel had been dating for almost a year and that Mwende had used a photo of Emmanuel as her Facebook cover photo at one point. However, Emmanuel's Facebook page revealed that in 2013, he had posted a suicide note and used an image of Osama bin Laden as his profile picture.

No one knows why this happened. A few of Emmanuel's coworkers let slip that he was working late but had asked for leave to go out to dinner.
