DCI detectives have arrested two suspects Rogers Kipkogei and Collins Chavera for conning a gold investor amount worth Ksh. 1 Million with crushed padlocks. The suspects have since been arrested in Uthiru and arraigned in court where the judge allowed the Officers to detain them while conducting further investigation.
“The victim who fell for the trick deposited the money to different Mpesa accounts, given to him by the suspects,” DCI officer told the press. “Detectives believe the suspects use the personal information from the identification documents, to register the SIM cards used to steal money from Kenyans through mobile money transactions,” DCI went ahead to explain to the press. He went ahead to reveal that the suspects presented themselves as officials working with a Congolese gold company while carrying out this heinous act.
