Road Accident

What Ledama Says Matatu Conductors 'Learnt' From DP Gachagua

Narok senator Ledama Ole Kina has come to the aid of the two Matatu conductors who were arrested for hanging outside the bus vehicle. He has called for their release, saying that they learned the behavior from the deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua.

While in Kisumu, the deputy president hung outside the front door of his vehicle as he greeted the locals. It took the efforts of his security personnel, who held the door to protect him from falling off.

The two actions cannot, however, be compared. The bus the conductors were hanging on was on the highway and speeding, and other vehicles were on route. The conductors even interfered with another bus by stepping on its windows, endangering the lives of its passengers.

It is a behavior that cuts across the Matatu industry, where young, excited conductors seem to be enjoying the thrill of the speeding bus. They should, however, know that life is precious.
