"Cops gifted military boots and jungle sweater" Businessman tells court

A businessman tells court Police officer ‘gifted him’ military boots and jungle sweater

The accused found himself in the wrong side with the police after he was found in possession of a pair of military boots and a jungle sweater which he maintained that he was gifted by received a police officer.

Emmanuel Simiyu faced charges of gaining access into government stores, and stealing the two uniforms which was recovered in his house in Kijiji slums in Kibera.

But according to his lawyer, he argued that he received the items from a police officer who was throwing them because they were old and worn out.

He was nabbed after residents staying next to the police station in the area complained of losing their valuables including clothes.

Simiyu a businessman, who had a contract at the police station was nabbed and later taken to his house where an inspection was conducted and a pair of military boots and a jungle sweater were recovered.

In court, Simiyu pleaded not guilty to the charges infront of Resident magistrate William Tullen. He was freed on a Sh30, 000 cash bail and an alternative bond of Sh100, 000.
