"The bodies of the deceased were moved to Kisumu City hospital mortuary. We are investigating to establish the root cause of the accident," Stephen said.
Witnesses said the Nissan was travelling from Bondo town and was travelling towards Kisumu when its driver tried to overtake another pickup when it hit the oncoming motorbike that was carrying three people.
The locals attributed the rising cases of road accident to overspeeding and failure to observe traffic rules and regulations.
Stephen warned motorists and bodaboda riders against over speeding on the busy road that is very smooth and easily attracts motorists to speed.
The matatu driver is currently being held at Kisian police post for interrogation purposes.
