The people of Laikipia have been experiencing insecurity and life threats for quite a long period of time. All this came when bandits raided the county causing skirmishes that left some civilians and officers dead. The Government deployed officers but the bandits continued attacking and killing taking people's livestock.
To control this and to ensure the bandits are completely flushed out of the region, the government has come up with a better way to conquer them. The 'Nyumba Kumi' initiative has been launched to help in identifying the suspicious bandits roaming in the area. The police officers sent in the region asked residents to know their neighbors to help in identifying suspicious people.
The Multi-agency agency unit has maintained high security as everyone is urged to interact with the neighbors to identify new people in the area. The deployed security team was under leadership by Officer Commanding E Company ninth Kenya Rifles Major James Fereji and Capt (Dr) Abu Sadik.
