Reports of a badly exposed town in Kirinyaga county surfaced online, eliciting mixed reactions from Kenyans. Sagana town, according to reports, is a small and old town in Kirinyaga, located along the Nairobi-Nyeri highway. It is small but densely populated with both locals and tourists. Historians believe it was founded in the 1930s and named after Kenya's longest river, the Sagana. According to sources, it is a small "entertainment hell." Reports indicated that Sagana town is a small central business place and full of bars and entertainment joints. The town has been on the spot for having moral decaying values.
Many entertainment establishments are said to employ underage girls who are then used by men. After sleeping with men, some of the girls sell their bodies for money. According to sources, complaints about the town's morals have been filed with Interior PS Kanja Kibicho and the Kirinyaga county government, but nothing has been done.
