GSU Officer Shoots Colleague Dead, Opens Fire At Camp While Fleeing

Laikipia County police are investigating a murder at the Miteta General Service Unit (GSU) camp, where an officer allegedly shot and killed a colleague after an argument.

According to John Nyoike, the Laikipia County Police Commander, the suspect shot his colleague in the head after a heated argument over a dispute that the detectives have yet to resolve.

"The assailant picked up his belongings, which were packed in a bag, after the incident. He, too, grabbed his rifle and bolted for the conservancy "He made the point.

As he fled towards the Laikipia Nature Conservancy, the officer began shooting indiscriminately at the camp, according to police boss Nyoike. Officers have been dispatched to the area to track him down and apprehend him.

"A team of officers has been dispatched to pursue the attacker," Nyoike said.

The victim's body was taken to the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
