Ogembo Town Gets Municipality Status

Kisii county government has upgraded Ogembo town into a municipality.The bill that was prooposed by the lands chairman Mr .Ibrahim Ongubo was endoresed by all county Assembly members..It will now remain to the Kisii county governer James Ongwae to sign it into law. photo:Kisii County Assembly.

Speaking after the approval,Kisii county Assembly Majority leader Timothy ogugu,said that Ogembo is the oldest town in the county adding that its upgrading was overdue.'It has come at the right time to help our people."He said."The town has hosted traditional courts that were upgraded into the modern law court and therefore, he added, the elevation. His setiments were supported Boochi Tender Ward MCA MrJames Ondari.

The bill was also suppoted by Bosoti ward MCA Mr.Ibrahim Ombuya who said that the town'munivipal status will improve the infrastructure and increment other economic institutions like banks.He lauded governor Ongwae:government calling it a visionary Ongwae.

Ogembo town is found about 15 kilometres South East of Kisii town.The historicsl town was named after an elder man from the present Boochi Tender ward .Since then it has it has grown and increased many social amenities like the hospital,law court and and constituency headquarters.
