The husband to the woman whose body was found stashed in a suitcase and dumped outside the General Service Unit camp in Ruiru, Kiambu county has for the first time spoken and shared the last moments they shared.
While speaking to a local newspaper on Thursday, January 20, Joseph Ngige disclosed that he escorted the wife Esther Wambui to her workplace at 5 am as it was the routine because of security reasons.
Trouble started unfolding at 7 pm when he went to pick her up from the workplace only to be informed that Wambui had not reported for duty that particular day which prompted her to embark on a search mission that lasted up to 11 pm.
"On that fateful morning, we woke up around 5 am as usual and I escorted her from the estate towards her workplace, a hotel near the Ruiru bypass. I usually do that because of safety to see her off. She is needed at her workplace at around 6 am, so I made sure she was in a safe distance, then went back home," he told the Standard.
Ngige opted to go to her workplace the following morning with high hopes of having a glimpse of the wife and when he discovered his efforts were futile he went to Juja police station where he reported the matter.
