Kenya commandos arrest two Suspected Highway Robbers targeting motorists In Turkana South

Police in Turkana South, Turkana County are now detaining a total of four suspects linked to the spate highway robbery along the Kainuk-Kaakong route.

Addresing the press shortly after the arrest, police revealed that the culprits were nabbed at KWS area.

During the arrest, Police seized two firearms loaded with nine rounds of ammunition in a sting operation mounted by Kainuk Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Haron Odhiambo together with Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) commander Salah Mohammed.

This comes barely one month when in May this year, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Maalim Mohammed signed a note that would allow assignments of a multi-agency team in the region. .

“The Kitale-Lodwar route has took many lives. The regional police force group was divided into teams as they trailed the highway thugs,” Maalim said.

Maalim noted that a sting operation is still underway to make sure that those in possession of unlicensed firearms will be nabbed and charged.

This comes barely few days when two suspected thugs were also arrested in the area.
