The ongoing fraudulent activities have made many Kenyans to lose a lot of money from their M-pesa accounts. Safaricom has been receiving unending reports from customers over vanished cash from accounts.You should never withdraw cash from an agent if you discover some strange people hovering around the M-pesa. It has been noticed that some fraudsters spend time next to M-pesa shops and later follow customers to rob them.
According to a case reported to Safaricom on Sunday 2, a customer lost over ksh18,000 to con men minutes after withdrawing from an agent. It was established that the con men were camping at the M-pesa before proceeding for the crime.
"@Safaricom PLC. I'm happy for your services keep on moving. However, there is this issue disturbing my mind. Some con men have come up with new method to steal trom M-pesa shops and customers. Like today, some new faces were seen camping at an M-pesa and later followed a customer who withdrew over ksh18,000 robbing him..." stated Joy.
Safaricom responded by advising Joy to be reporting any suspicious people around to police immediately for assistance.
"Hi Joy, we are very sorry to hear that. Once you notice suspicious people hovering around, report the issue to the police immediately." Stated Safaricom.
Always be cautious when about to withdraw cash from agents to avoid any possible attacks from such con men.
