In the past few years, the county government has been upgrading the town's services especially in infrastructure, sewerage system and cleanliness in anticipation of the upgrade. President Uhuru in his SOTU speech declared that on 1st December 2021, he will giver a city status charter to the town.

Nakuru is a cosmopolitan town. It is mainly populated by the Kikuyus, Kalenjins, Luos, Kisii's and Luhyias. Lake Nakuru national park is also a few kilometers from the town. It is mainly an agricultural town and offers the best fresh food at affordable rates.

East Africa's cleanest town will thus be referred to as Nakuru City as from1st December 2021. The only city in the Rift Valley. We congratulate the governor and the residents of Nakuru for their new acquired status. Hongera.
