Dozens feared dead in china as typhoon breaks ship into two.

More than thirty crew members are missing and feared dead after ship the had boarded broke into two during a typhoon in the South China Sea today.

The vessel was several miles southwest of Hong Kong and suffered substantial damage and broke into two pieces. The 30-member crew abandoned ship and tried to escape.

A footage released by Hong Kong authorities shows a helicopter airlifting a person while waves crashed over the deck of the almost completely submerged ship. Here is the footage.

The Government of China has dispatched two aircrafts and four helicopters and a rescue boat to the scene.Rescuers have expressed determination to save lives by increasing the search area and extend the operation into the night if possible. This is due to that large number of people unaccounted for.

Typhoons are an heavy circular storms that originates over warm tropical oceans. They are characterized by low atmospheric pressure, high winds, and heavy rain. The draw energy from the sea surface and generates winds that exceed 100 km per hour.
