Former pastor facing murder charges in Kisii was Thursday granted Sh 500, 000 cash bail after weeks behind the bar.
Joel Mogaka, however, denied killing his wife Irene Nyakwara.
He appeared before Kisii High Court Judge Anthony Ndung'u.
The former pastor was charged that on 14 January 2021 , together with others not before court, he killed Nyakwara at their home in Omosasa, in Bomachoge Borabu..
He is said to had been hiked by a string of love texts the deceased was being sent on her phone by some police officer based at Magena before he slit the throat of his wife open.
The prosecutor Edwin Otieno - asked the court to allow a crucial witness, a baby sitter, to testify in court on February 24.
There had also been a wrangles over the home in which the deceased is to be buried.
The body is still lying at Christmarriane Mortuary Hospital awaiting burial.
A kin told the court that they are waiting a signature from the former cleric before they take away the body for interment
The suspect had driven the body of wide all by himself to mortuary where it is lies.
According to the postmoterm report showed she was hit with a brunt object in the head and that she was strangled.
The deceased Nyakwara was a teacher at Bombaba Secondary school.
