The crisis in Marsabit County had threatened to spew out of control until the government intervened and called for a special meeting in which the sole aim was to have a way forward on resolving the issues of the peace loving people.
The government thus enforced a 30 day dusk to dawn curfew with elite security teams sent to the area in large numbers to ensure that the criminal elements in the place, were weeded out and calm restored to the people.
This morning, according to the National Police Service Official Social Media Handle, the security operation in the area is currently ongoing smoothly and yesterday a meeting was held.
The crucial meeting incorporated all security apparatus in the area together with community leaders with a view of ensuring that all stakeholders are heard.
The security agencies in the area thanked the local leaders and the people for voluntarily giving up arms as well as ammunition and thus making the work easier.
A few days ago, there was surrender of some firearms and ammunition as well as seizure of the same from some eight bandits who are now in custody.
The National Police Service has assured everyone living in Marsabit that the security operation is not targeting any specific community and human rights violations will not be tolerated.
