Air is one of the many types of environmental pollution that negatively impact our environment. Several measures have always been laid down to help reduce it.
When polluted air is released into the atmosphere, it has several effects which include the disruption of the ozone layer which help reduce the world from experiencing extreme direct sunlight.
As one of the ways to reduce air pollution in the county, the Kisumu county government through its governor Professor Anyang' Nyong'o revealed that the county is set to start mass production of electric motorcycles.
The governor was speaking on Tuesday 2nd March when he received 15 electric motorcycles donated by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) as part of effort to reduce air pollution. The initiative is funded by International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature and Conservation.
The project is expected to raise awareness to eco-friendly fuel which will support positive climate change as well as developing comprehensive policy to foster transition to electric mobility.Professor Anyang' Nyong'o revealed that the production will take place at Kisumu innovation and business incubation center.
"They will be cheaper, easy to maintain and environmental friendly," governor Nyong'o stated.
