According to Mugo, she had received numerous death threats because she was investigating a murder case involving a Busia police officer.
She recalled telling her right before she was kidnapped to quit looking into the matter.
"We discovered two weeks ago that a police officer may have been involved in the murder during our investigations." We decided as a family not to pursue the matter further. "Four individuals have already been apprehended," Ms. Mugo stated.
She said that the kidnappers admitted to being sent by a top police officer who requested them to pick up her and her colleagues. One of the kidnappers also questioned her motivation for running for the Kirinyaga women's Representative seat.
