The Most Dangerous Scary Roads In Kenya

Road accidents have continued to rob important lives in our society. According to the latest statistics, up to 3900 people died due to road accidents as t 2021. Festive seasons normally have high number of fatal accidents compared to the rest of the year and motorists are normally encouraged to be careful on the roads. We have noted that most of these accidents are contributed by roads which have wrecked many cars and killed hundreds of passengers. Here are the most dangerous roads that every driver should exercise caution when using them:

Maron-Sambalat Road

When you travel along this road in Elgeyo Marakwet County, you will be treated to unnerving view of Elgeyo escarpment to the plains of Kerio Valley. Nevertheless, the spine-chilling experience while navigating the road. It has been described as a black spot due to its dangerous curves on the steep slope. Many who have traveled through the 15 kilometer stretch of the road have lived to explain scary experiences. Residents had called upon the government to redesign the road since it had killed many people.

Nairobi-Mombasa Highway

According to latest research done by an Australian firm, this road section is the most dangerous in Africa. In the year 2019 alone, the road had killed 29 people. According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), the accidents on this 482 kilometer road are caused by driver error, misjudgment of clear way, and overlapping.

Nakuru-Nairobi Highway

This road commonly known as A104 is an alsphalted road that has a stetch of 159 kilometres. It is regarded as an extremely dangerous road and the government consequently decided to expand it to reduce accidents. The road is known for drink driving, coupled with speeding and poor overtaking. Others include poor law enforcement on the road, lack of barriers and poor weather conditions. Also, due to the re-asphalt, drivers saw it as a racing ground. In the previous years, over 320 people have lost their lives on this road.
