Three Catholic sisters lost their lives after the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a road accident at Kaptendon near Arwos trading centre in Emgwen constituency, Nandi County.
The accident happened after a Toyota Fielder which had four sisters collided head-on with a Prado.
The Prado headed towards Nairobi was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it rammed onto the Fielder coming from the opposite direction.

The three died on the spot while another sustained serious injuries. The survivor was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
The five occupants of the Prado sustained minor injuries, and were rushed to a local hospital where they were treated and discharged.

Preliminary findings show that the three nuns were heading to an ordination ceremony of one of the church leaders in the region.

A tragedy that has become synonymous with the Christmas festivities is the spike of road accidents as more people travel upcountry or on holiday during the festive seasons.
