Chief officer John Kiama reiterated that though the firefighters were notified on time, they were forced to watch the dormitory burn to ground due to the entrance gate being to small to accommodate the truck.
While no information was given out by the prisoners, Kitavi revealed that the inmates used matchboxes to set the dormitory on fire with deaths or injuries being recorded during the incident.
