UPDATE: Very Dangerous gang of Criminals arrested, Killer Weapons Found, Killer Targets Confirmed

Security Personnel in Kakamega County has arrested members of a notorious gang that has been giving residents sleepless nights. The gang dubbed "Mbogi la Izraim" has been terrorizing residents in the township area of Kakamega. 14 members of the group have already been apprehended so far.


Reports from the Police investigatory department in Kakamega indicate that the alleged gang members have been in the forefront attacking members of the residential areas, stealing property and killing their targets.



According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) report given yesterday, Tuesday November 21 222, a contingent of detectives alongside officers from the Kenya Police Service launched a crackdown on the said gang following reported serial attacks on residents. The report indicates that up to 10 people have been killed and several injured by the gang.


Statement from DCI read, “Informed by the horrifying trend, an intelligence-led crackdown by a team of KPS & DCI officers was launched in the area on Sunday, Nov 20, where 10 suspected members of the ring were flashed out of their boltholes and escorted to Kakamega Police Station. After investigative interviewing, four more suspects were nabbed yesterday in different locations within the township.”



DCI also gave details of the evil incidents caused by the Mbogi la Izraim. Among them, detectives managed to recover three stolen motorcycles, several metal bars, bloodstained machetes and clothing. There were also assorted electronics including mobile phones and laptops. The notorious gang is said to be targeting security guards around the town. DCI affirmed that in the last one week two security officers have Killed in Kambi Somali and Amalemba areas within Kakamega. A Fifth-year Madinde Muliru University student was also killed by the same gang while injuring his colleague.


The DCI report detailed that, “In one of the incidents on Nov 17, 58-yr-old John Mulama - a security guard at Club 2000 within Kambi Somali - was attacked and murdered at his place of work, before his killers proceeded to Amalemba bus Stage where they also ended the life of 59-yr-old Festo Iluma, also a watchman at DEE's Pub. On the night of Nov 19, the bloody gang advanced its attacks to Mahiakhalo in Bukhungu location, killing Patrick Kipkosgei, 24, a 5th-year student at Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology in cold blood. That same night, Isaiah Kiprono a 1st yr student at the same university survived by the skin of his teeth when the machete-wielding gang accosted him while opening his house.”
