An armed robber was shot dead by police in Nairobi on Tuesday afternoon as he attempted to rob a bank.

The thug armed with a knife gained entrance into Equity Bank, Nairobi West after opening the back door.
The police officers who rushed to the scene following a distress call combed the area in search of the suspects who had already raided the bank.
The suspect defied orders to surrender prompting the officers to fatally wound the thug as his accomplices disappeared.
Detectives are pursuing the other suspects who escaped on a getaway motorbike.
A security guard was injured during the incident and he is currently recuperating at a local hospital in stable condition.
The body of the slain thug was moved to the mortuary pending identification.
Police suspect that the thugs are part of a larger network of thugs, responsible for robberies targeting banks in various parts of Nairobi County.
