A police officer assigned to the Recce Squad was killed after being seriously injured in an attack by armed thugs in Nakuru county's Mazembe area.
According to a police report released on Sunday, Harrison Onywonki was in the company of his two brothers; Hezron Onwonga and Morara Onwonga when they were attacked by a group of about five armed suspects.
The police boss said that the cause of the accident was not immediately established.It happened just below the Njoro interchange along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway. The driver of the truck lost control and veered off the road," said Mwanzo.
Friends, acquaintances, and strangers took to social media to post emotional messages of condolence after the team posted the statement on social media.Nakuru residents also called for the investigative team to investigate quickly what happened to the player and fight for justice for his family.
Bodies of the deceased were moved to the Molo sub-county mortuary, with postmortem examinations set to be conducted later in the day.The incident came a week after one KDF soldier died in the Ngata area along the same highway on September 3.
