The road accidents have been on the rise in the recent past. It is almost impossible for a day to pass without hearing news about a vehicles that collided, overturned after speeding among other cases in our country. On Friday an accident occurred at Nithi Bridge involving a miraa vehicle. It occurred around midday at the notorious Nithi bridge as the pickup was transporting the perishable product to Nairobi and its environs leaving at least one person dead.Image: Courtesy
According to an eyewitness, the driver of the pickup lost control of the vehicle and flew to the other side of the road hitting a motorbike guy whose state has not been established until the time of this publication. An oncoming khat hillux blocked the road to prevent the people from stealing the stimulant which had fallen on the road. This in turn led to a massive traffic jam in the busy Meru-Chuka-Nairobi highway. Image: Courtesy
The miraa- carrying automobiles are known for speeding but the accidents are very rare. According to the drivers who were hosted in a local show, they are always sober and observe the traffic rules while on transit.
We urge all road users to observe all rules to the T and respect other road users who are also their equals as the law stipulates.
