A group of suspects who were arrested over the weekend after being linked to stoning ODM leader Raila Odinga's chopper have landed in big trouble.
At least 17 people were arrested and their phones were taken away as one way of helping the police carry out investigations.
It has been revealed that those in custody risk serving a life sentence if the court finds them guilty after details emerged saying they will be charged with attempted murder once the investigation is completed.
According to the criminal law of Kenya, anyone found guilty of attempted murder risks getting a life sentence as the maximum sentence.
Section 220 provides for the offence of attempted murder. Anyone convicted of the offence of attempted murder is liable to imprisonment for life.
The Star reports that it has been confirmed that the 17 suspects who are currently in custody will be charged with attempted murder.
The 17 suspects were on Saturday arrested over the stoning of Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga's chopper at Kabenes after the burial of Mzee Kibor in Uasin Gishu
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara told the media that key politicians were mentioned by the suspects
He also revealed that the suspects were found with money in Sh50 denomination notes
