Another Woman Believed To Have Lured 8-Year-Old Shantel Arrested From Her Hide-out In Athi River

One more suspect believed to have links in the kidnapping and murder of Shantel Nzembi a Grade Two child in Kitengela, has been nabbed by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The suspect identified as Nativity Mutindi, a 30-year-old woman, was nabbed from her hide-out in Athi River area on Thursday evening.

After fruitful manhunt for two more accused linked to the kidnapping and murder of Shantel, the sleuths managed to drive them out. But Mutindi is suspected to have lured the pupil into the gang’s trap on Saturday as she operated an M-Pesa shop in the area.

The detectives say the suspect knows the area so well and could have easily engaged herself to the kidnap of the 8-year-old kitengela girl.

Mutinda's smartphone, according to the sleuths is the one that was used to call the mother of shantel demanding ransom.

"They made several calls to me requesting for money that is on Saturday. Whenever they call, they kept on asking whether I've gotten the money so that I sent them. They waited for a day and then killed shantel on Monday," Shantel’s mother Christine Ngina narrated.

The woman's arrest comes when two accused who were nabbed on Wednesday were already arraigned at the Kajiado Law Courts.

Investigating officers requested for more time to enable them complete investigations into the murder.

The two suspects also identified as Livingstone Makacha Otengo and Francis Mbuthia Mikuhu, will be in police cell for 10 more days at the Kitengela Police Station.
